In Dogman, Matteo Garrone follows Marcello, a gentle dog groomer trapped in a relationship of fear and dependence with the violent Simone. Dalia Colli’s makeup and the special effects created with Lorenzo Tamburini make the harsh environment, injuries and physical transformation of the characters visible without sacrificing realism. Their work won the 2019 David di Donatello for Best Makeup and, together with Daniela Tartari’s hair design, the 2018 European Film Award for European Hair and Makeup Artist.
