Inspired by Beppe Fenoglio’s novel, Paolo Taviani’s Rainbow: A Private Affair follows partisan Milton through the misty Langhe hills, torn between the fight against Fascism and his obsession with Fulvia. As Key Makeup Artist, Dalia Colli developed an essential and realistic look suited to war, cold weather and the characters’ clandestine lives. The makeup remains almost invisible, yet makes the physical exhaustion and emotional intensity of a story suspended between collective history and private feeling entirely believable.
